Overall Objective and Purpose

Responsible for designing, ordering, configuring, and implementing automation tools – to include both hardware and software.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Plans and implements automation hardware, software and systems.

Provides expertise in the design, integration, and management of automation tools.

Plans and implements automation standards to support the global automation intiatives.

Evaluates and implements automation tools between heterogeneous systems.

Evaluates and implements Management tools to monitor/evaluate system performance.

Assists in reducing costs by monitoring network connections and systems to ensure optimal performance.

Assists in defining steps necessary to ‘fine-tune’ networks and systems.

Schedules, plans, and performs periodic scheduled maintenance to ensure monitoring systems are operating at optimal levels.

Provides training and mentoring to Operations personnel and Automations Analysts to assist them in the performance of their assigned duties.

Provides 2 nd level Troubleshooting to resolve automation related problems.

General

Software/Automation Requirements:

Installation and Administration of one or more of the following environments is desired: Tivoli, Netbackup, Control-M, ESOA

Linux administration: Mid level ability

Scripting: KSH scripting; Python, Perl is a Plus.

DB2: - general command use.

Education

Minimum education

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent.

  • †Years Experience

  • 2 or more years of related experience.

  • †Essential special training requirements

  • †Experience using automation tools and scripting languages

  • Experience with IT Infrastructure concepts and administration

  • Experience with software development

  • Knowledge of surrounding IT infrastructure i.e., SAN, networks, Docker containers, etc

  • Experience with one or more common Linux distributions, such as:

  • RedHat, Fedora and/or CentOS

  • Debian and/or Ubuntu

  • Extreme comfort with any popular shell (Bash, ksh, etc)

  • Solid experience with at least one configuration management system within large, complex environments.
